Milwaukee Bucks 102 Final
Recap | Box Score
103 Denver Nuggets
J.J. Hickson, PF 29 MIN | 5-8 FG | 0-0 3FG | 2-2 FT | 2 REB | 1 AST | 1 STL | 1 BLK | 1 TO | 12 PTS | -6 +/-

Not the same game he played against the Trailblazers but for J.J. a decent outing. Had some impressive dunks early on. However issue here was him and Faried down low. These two are a defensive liability. Don’t know what coach Malone is thinking.

Kenneth Faried, PF 33 MIN | 8-9 FG | 0-0 3FG | 3-6 FT | 9 REB | 1 AST | 2 STL | 3 BLK | 2 TO | 19 PTS | -5 +/-

Would love to give him an A but can’t due to the defensive liability he is. Faried just can’t post up and struggled against Monroe. Was a -5 for the game. However great hustle tonight and the tip in was gorgeous. Great season so far from the Manimal just keep him away from Hickson

Danilo Gallinari, SF 38 MIN | 7-17 FG | 4-8 3FG | 7-7 FT | 7 REB | 1 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 3 TO | 25 PTS | -8 +/-

A season high for Gallo. He also passed career mark of 5,000 points in this contest great game for the Roster all together. When he got it going in the second half it seemed like the Nuggets followed. Gallo is the team’s leader and they will need strong performances like this all season long. Even his air ball turned out great tonight as Faried converted it into the game winner

Emmanuel Mudiay, PG 35 MIN | 5-16 FG | 1-6 3FG | 5-8 FT | 3 REB | 11 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 16 PTS | +2 +/-

The Rook was solid tonight with another double-double. Great ball movement and took a nice charge. However his shot is still not there. Needs to become more consistent. Free Throws were the only place he could knock it down. This has been the knock on Mudiay and will continue to be until he fixes his shot.

Gary Harris, SG 28 MIN | 3-7 FG | 2-4 3FG | 0-0 FT | 1 REB | 5 AST | 2 STL | 0 BLK | 2 TO | 8 PTS | +4 +/-

Garry Harris always brings the D. But he’s go to be more aggressive offensively. Can’t be afraid to take shots. Hit some nice shots from beyond the arc. Needs to develop some confidence/swagger in his offensive game and we could have something

Darrell Arthur, PF 18 MIN | 1-3 FG | 0-1 3FG | 0-0 FT | 1 REB | 3 AST | 0 STL | 2 BLK | 0 TO | 2 PTS | +8 +/-

DA best game of the season by far. Solid spacing and Passing. Arthur’s entry pass a magical thing

Kostas Papanikolaou, SF 10 MIN | 1-2 FG | 1-2 3FG | 0-0 FT | 3 REB | 0 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 3 PTS | +9 +/-

Pretty quiet night from a guy the Nuggets will need to rely on now due to the Chandler injury. Did hit a nice three but we need more. Has the range Nuggets looking for

Nikola Jokic, C 14 MIN | 4-7 FG | 0-0 3FG | 0-1 FT | 5 REB | 4 AST | 2 STL | 0 BLK | 2 TO | 8 PTS | +9 +/-

Great footwork and ability to finish. Would have liked to see more of him. Took advantage of time given to him and deserves more minutes.

Will Barton, SG 17 MIN | 3-5 FG | 0-1 3FG | 0-0 FT | 2 REB | 1 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 6 PTS | -4 +/-

The Thrill needs to provide more of a spark. Nice pass to Jokic in the fourth and a few nice dunks but not as good as he’s been in previous games. Needs to be Brewer-Esque

Randy Foye, SG 17 MIN | 2-5 FG | 0-2 3FG | 0-0 FT | 3 REB | 0 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 4 PTS | -4 +/-

Probably the Nuggets best outside shooter and didn’t hit one three tonight. Pretty lackluster performance from Foye all together. Hit one nice shot from outside but after review foot was on the line. Has struggled from outside this year.

Michael Malone

The Fraied-Hickson lineup is a mess. The coaching staff made some adjustments and got it going in the second half. But had Milwaukee not been on a back to back I doubt we’d have the same outcome. Coach Malone’s small lineups haven’t been very effective. Interested to see what he does when Joffrey and Nurkic are healthy.

Three Things We Saw

  1. 3rd quarter was the only one won by the Nuggets and it proved crucial as Nuggets built a large enough lead to keep them in it until the end. Can’t rely on teams being tired from back to backs.
  2. The Hickson-Faried frontline is a mess. The paint might as well be empty. These guys aren’t keeping anyone out. Nurkic where are you?
  3. Jokic clearly needs more time. This young man is something special. The footwork and vision he has is special for a player of his size. Such finesse and touch with the ball in his hands
